Meeting Copperhead

littlesilvertipThe more I look at the rune-scape, the more there is to study. So much of this is useless to me… but something about it hints at something… beyond. Beyond what? Beyond beyond? Maddening. How can spirits move through things that aren’t there? I may have got a little obsessed with it, because I worked through most of the night on understanding it. I didn’t get sleep until it was daylight out.
And then I got woke up by a howl. A weird howl. I went to go check out the howl, only to find… a thing. Metis. A grandmother forsaken wretch. It was hideous. Worse than spider-eyes, and I nearly killed her when I first met her. It /claims/ it is an Uktena, but… maybe. It looks snakey enough to be an Uktena. It suggested I get it checked for the horned serpent’s taint. I had to get it checked twice, because it had a fetish that might have been masking taint.
If I whelped that thing, I would roll over on it and crush it. What crimes did this ‘thing’ commit in its last life, to merit the grandmother’s anger like this? It must have let a caern fall, or worse. I’m guessing that, because it said it wants to be a guardian, or more. The metis that checked it for taint - moose-calf - seemed sympathetic to her. The furies don’t teach their metis the shame they deserve? Bah. Apparently its chiminage is to teach things. I have no need for her to teach my cousin prayer for the prey - what do snake metis know about our way of making prayer, anyhow? She’s not one of my people, even if she is my tribe.
It was submissive, though, which is good. It knows its place. I wonder if it's a male or female? I can't tell with snakes. If it was a wolf, I'd guess Copperhead was female. Grandmother, that thing is an abomination.
Not heading to the scab tonight. Moot tomorrow, and it makes little sense to go to the scab, and then immediately come back. I should work on my parka, but… the drawing is more interesting. Definitely more interesting.
