I exhausted what I had here for my various problems. I need more information, and it’s not going to come from my septmates. I don’t have the gnosis free to pay off many more spirits. Fells-the-Wyrm came through, but with a variety of books, and nothing I can give to spirits as chiminage (aside from Uktena, really). Some of these look interesting. I should get good information for all this, in the Homeland.

Headed to the town to research more. I cleaned my clothes and took my nicest things so no one would question me being in the nice places. The nice stores have the most interesting books. Luckily, I can speak Yup’ik to anyone who bugs me, and they’ll figure I’m from some foreign land and leave me alone.

Thurs, 12 June - Research not so great
A day browsing books, without buying any. They probably are suspicious of me being there. I didn’t find anything that even gave me a new ideas about what I’m dealing with in the house. This is just so far outside anyone’s experience…

That night, I summoned a salmon and asked it about things that can inhabit mind for the Fenrir. I had to best it in fishing for it to respect me. Cost me gnosis. Lots of it. I’m going to have to summon the spirit later, and feed it again. Still, some interesting ideas. I’m taking my costs out of the things Fells the Wyrm provided, that’s for sure.

Friday, 13 June - Bad penny shows up
People seemed to think today was an inauspicious day. 13s, I guess. Wyrmbringers sure do get scared about weird things… I moved to a new age shop, and got something for three dollars. “Innerspace.” Worth all three dollars (so, not that great). I ‘borrowed’ a book of supposed hauntings, and strange happenings, from the Library, interested if anything similar showed up. Nothing, really. A lot of interesting stories, though. A few things I could make a guess at were actual hauntings, and a few that sounded like delirium stories.

I was reading through the library book when Slug noticed me near the fountain, and came over to talk. He asked if I was dressed to go to a party or something. Hah. He said I looked good, and something about me looking more confident, cooler. I kept asking what the hell he meant, but he didn’t answer. Instead flashed me one of the bombs he made, like I’d be impressed. Said I should teach him some Yup’ik if we’re going to be friends. I told him we weren’t friends. Not even slightly.

We went to a safe play where I could just talk Mother’s Tongue, in a bad part of town. Lots of… seedy men. Most got away, but I didn’t want to stick around long enough to see if some of the more willful tried anything. I could kill them, but there’d be veil problems if I did. Slug’s ‘home’ was crappy, but nicer than sleeping on the streets. Trapped, like he expected trouble. I told him I knew about the riots, and that Beast of War was coming. He had no clue who that was. I gave him the brief explanation about the Triatic Horned Serpent. He held up his spiritual ignorance like he was proud of it. Eh. At least he’s trying to learn, now. He gave me the rumours about the falling caerns, some I hadn’t heard. But nothing usefully specific. That, too, goes on my list for Homeland.

I suggested we get someone in the Human Rioters who is very involved, and get them to rat out others. Slug didn’t like the idea. He seemed overwhelmed by the enormity of the problem, kept going on about how in danger the Caern was. I think he gets lost in frustration and despair easily. I tried to tell him to break down his problems into smaller problems, but I don’t think he listened. In my experience, that’s what separates the successful people from the not - do they choke, or do they try to chew their problems into edible pieces?

He asked what to do if captured. I told him to stop being captured. He didn’t like that answer. I told him about the last time we faced the fallen tribe, but he didn’t really like my rendition of the story.

He had a bunch of questions about mages. Apparently Chimera’s been telling him stuff. Mage symbols. Making him wonder about their powers, and the limits, and their veil (or lack there-of). I told him most of the things he wondered about were answered by the fact that he even had a question, but I don’t think he got it. Why is chimera going on about mages to him? Odd. Maybe… Tail-Eater’s new guide?

He also gave me an arrowhead, like I’d want it. It was meaningful to him, at least. I memorized the symbol he drew. I think I saw it in something the Fenrir gave.

Saturday, 14 June - Moot? Moot.
What’s there to say about moots? I announced the plan to save the Wolves from the DNA people, and reminded people the Great Hunt is soon. I also asked if anyone had insight about leeching spirits, I was interested. No one came. Guards the Flame announced the problems of the riots. Unfinished Business challenged Slug; I don’t like the terms. Too shifty. Battle Cry challenged Fells the Wyrm, and Rogue interrupted moot again, before storming off. Abandons None Challenged Song of Vengeance. No terms ready.

Saturday, 14 June - She’s gone Rogue
As soon as I could, I went after Rogue, and sniffed her out. She had enough time to calm down. I asked her about the outburst at moot. She said it was over Fells-the-Wyrm. I asked what the Fenrir did. She apparently stole something, and then dream-spoke to her without permission. I have some sympathy for _that_ problem. She seemed embarassed. I pointed out what she’d done was removing renown (and she’s disrupted moots… 3 times now?), and told her I had many people I hated, but I didn’t throw a tantrum every time they did something at moot. She seemed taken aback at the many things people had done to me, or my packmates over the years, and asked if they happened when I was high ranked, and bigger than them. Nope. I told her to either challenge the Fenrir, or let it drop.

Saturday, 14 June - Preparations.
I cleaned my nicest kuspuk, and some appropriate things to wear in ape. I also dedicated as much as I could take to homeland, and set two things aside for my cousin to dedicate tomorrow. After I did, I flipped through the book, looking for the symbol Slug drew. It was drawn the same way. I think Slug lied. He seemed sincere at the time, though. But this… is too close to be not. And it’s a copy. If I had more time, I’d skim this, but I have too much happening for mage studies as is. I can always ask the Fenrir where the original is, when I return.

I think Slug was right about being confident. If I have my headdress, my nice kuspuk, and everything, I look… I look like I should be able to walk right into the council, and not be turned away at the door. I look confident. I feel confident. One last thing to get in the morning. The most important thing for the trip. I’m tempted to use it enough that having it gone is probably a good thing.

A supernatural encyclopedia, a book of Fenrir shames, a Fianna’s Journal, and the copied Hermetic book, peyote, and two bits of tass. And the Fetish. On top of the things I normally have dedicated, that’s as much as I can take, and even then, I need to give some of it to my cousin to carry. Hopefully it’ll be enough to get some good deals.
