The last few days, the dreams keep getting worse and worse, which has given me more and more time to study, and continue writing down my findings and thoughts on how mages wield their powers.

I haven’t yet decided how to put together the tass I have, and the mage focus, to try and make it work. I’m beginning to suspect that like the pennies, and the fruit, tass comes in many forms and kinds, and perhaps not all types of magical potential are suited for the same uses. It seems logical. The mage Unfinished Business killed was a technomancer or some sort. Would a technomancer have much use for wyld-infused fruit? Probably not. Or, possibly less than a dreamspeaker would, or a… what did they call it? Verbena. The life mages. The Jedi is somewhere between a technomancer and a chi-worker, so he might have some uses for that type of tass, but prefer other sorts - like the magic coins he had.

I’ve missed Uktena’s succor, though. Since repacking under Uktena, I’ve been putting together information I’ve had far quicker than before. Things snap into place intuitively, and when I go back at my old notes, I marvel at how much I got wrong even a month ago. I’ve scratched most of the wrong things out, but left them just-readable, so when I re-read it, I’ll be reminded of the wrong thought process that lead me to those ideas. Eventually, though, conclusions need information, and I soon chewed through all the information I had. I’m not calling on the source for more - too dangerous for a non-crisis - but I did remember the title of the book that Tail-Eater lent me. Maybe it has more ideas for me?

Most of the day was spent getting to town, and then sniffing around for other glades. The pack is unlikely to take territory here, but if Uktena is interested, it would be good to know where the holy sites. As always, the city is full of black magic just below the surface, that makes finding clean medicine hard. I didn’t find anything interesting, unsurprisingly. After that, I went from shop to shop looking for the book. By the time I started figuring out where book shops were, they were closing for the night, so I went north and found a place to sleep as a wolf, out of town. I ate a squirrel, and it was delicious.

Next, I went through most of the book stores in the north part of town, looking for the book. Half way through, I got distracted by wondering about the blue star again, and I did a little digging. This was easier, because I knew where to start on the question - find the name in a chart. The star is “Spica,” “Al Simak,” or “Kio,” which I should have known (or would have, if I had more patience for learning the stars like Star-Child did…). The general feeling is that it’s associated with unfairness, unfruitfulness, and injustice to the innocent. It is also associated with causing marital love. I think Luna is telling us the approaching times will be those of wasted efforts, and unfair happenings, but to take comfort in those we love.

Even the moon wants me to sleep with men. Sigh.

I didn’t find it in any of the other shops I could find, and by the third day in the scab, I was getting frustrated. I got a… hunch? An idea, that I should check the library. It took a while - they have so many books! - but I found it: “Guardian Angels: Connecting With Our Spiritual Guides and Helpers.” It had been badly damaged, but it had lots of useful things to copy down. I took lots of notes, and was in the middle of copying the crystal diagram from it when I got startled by a tall, da… by Karuvar. The tiger. I nearly jumped out of my skin. Some how, he recognized me (he said it was my tattoos - I guess that makes sense).

He’s moved back to town, found a nice place (I think that’s what he said), and saw some Pumonca through the area (enraged some Balam). He’s looking to stay in the area. He was interested in my book (though he didn’t know why I was copying out of it) when Memory arrived. Memory and the Tiger didn’t seem to get along. While the two… failed to hug, I felt around with my gifts for magic, sniffing out Memory, especially. I was incredibly successful: both have fetishes, and the Tiger had some sort of constant gift on. As I was using my gift, Memory started to use one of her own, going over the shelves like looking for something. She pulled out a book, and recommended it to me. Very interesting. What was her gift leading her towards?

I told the Tiger about how my sister was now leader, and I was not, and how that she would be honourable to him if he was honourable to her. Memory said she had problems with my sister, and I told her that I tried to help build trust back with my sister (though, I’m not trusting Memory much myself, now). The Tiger had to go meet others, and left.

The whole time we talked, he looked me over, like Tail-Eater did. Maybe more blatantly than Tail-Eater. Memory says he did it too, so I can’t be crazy, right? He liked what I wore, and said I looked good wearing it (Twice). It made me incredibly uncomfortable. He was also… incredibly handsome. And I know he’s a beautiful tiger, too. Gaia, what a mess.

Memory told me that Slug told her that I’d been having nightmares. Possibly. She offered to help, called it a bandaid fix. Memory is… yes. Memory is the most suspicious. She was probably the one in my head. And that would make sense, too, because of how fast Tail-Eater was in finding who had done it. Do I try to read her mind to find out the answer? How do I confront her? Do I confront her? She did a bad thing, even if she means to help me. On the other hand, I have been in other’s heads too, without permission, and also when I felt I had good cause. This is not an easy question. Maybe she’ll just apologize to me. That would be for the best.

I dedicated the book and left with it - It’s not stealing if I intend to give it back, yes? The only ‘me’ that exists to the whites is taller, different, and male, so getting a card for permission to borrow books would be hard. I headed back to read it in my own time and own territory (and because I was running out of squirrels and dried whitefish). I’m not sure what gift Memory used, but she must have picked the most interesting book in the whole library out. It’s not so much a book on telekinesis, as she said… well, it is. But, the deeper theme is about how the observer changes reality by sniffing at it. It is very ‘new age,’ but a lot of the themes here are similar to the Jedi’s words… There’s a problem, though - someone spilled coffee on it. Much of the pages are ruined. Damn it. Either back into the scab to find another copy, or… I don’t know. I have enough to read for now, before I need to think about what to do about the ruined half.
