Okay, who let the Metis inside?
Tuesday, 15 April 2014 23:00My nightmares kept waking me up. Maybe it’s the full moon, and the fact that it’s my time, but the nightmares feel worse lately. I tried to block them out with ritual preparations, but nothing worked. Sigh.
I went to go sniff at the mountain bowl instead of sleeping. It’s a long ways, but I couldn’t sleep, and didn’t want to waste the time. The place looks amazing, when the clouds are as they were today. A few mountain sheep were up there, but I didn’t give chase. The place still feels… special. Holy. Magical. A glade, at a minimum. It’s just really far from anything. Not the best choice for my pack’s territory, but we’re running out of options.
On the way back, I ran into Unfinished Business. She did a better job sleeping, given how perky she was. I wish I could have her dreams. We spent some time howling back and forth between the ridges, before I decided to drop down, and talk to her closer. Copperhead heard our howls, and came to look at us (not sniff - she doesn’t look to have a nose). She did her chiminage (that’s good). Unfinished Business was confused why she wasn’t hanging around the rest more often, and both me and Copperhead told her it was because she’s a horrible metis.
I asked if she’s still interested in packing. She got… excited, and told us yes. Unfinished Business and I discussed whether we wanted a disgusting metis in our pack. She would bring many advantages, for sure, but we’d be stuck with a disgusting metis in the pack. Somehow, we got off topic, and started talking about Little Firebrand, and how I hated him more than the metis, and would kill him if he tried to do anything to me or any of my packmates. This turned into a discussion of how bad the wyrmcomers are. I don’t know if it was Unfinished Business being a questioner of ways, or if she believed her brother’s nonsense about the wyrmcomers, but she kept asking if they really were so bad, and I told her how evil their souls were a little more seriously than I should have. Saying it out-loud made me reconsider some of the things Fire-Dancer has told me, that’s for sure…
Copperhead. Back to Copperhead. We discussed it a little longer. My cousin came by, and she sniffed at the metis too. In the end, it came down to the fact that our other options for a medicine worker were not great. The three of us agreed not to run her off - yet - but to let Sapphire decide.
I let the three cliath stay to determine dominance (if the metis isn’t Omega, then Unfinished Business is deficient), and went to look for things to hunt, and a place to try and sleep again. I got half of that.
