Heading in to the city (again)
Friday, 7 March 2014 23:00It seems like I’m spending a lot of time in the city lately, having to deal with Urrah. This trip is by choice, though - I want to meet with Ila before the moon gets too much larger. Well, no, I need to.
I spent some time in the morning staring at some fire in the caern, working on problems. My thoughts started to drift towards how friendly fire can be, if it doesn’t burn you. I was starting to wonder if I could maybe get some fire elemental to respect me, so I wouldn't be at as much risk for burning, when Earth Whisperer surprised me - again, that’s been happening a lot, lately.
He was checking in on me (again, like I’m some crippled thing!), and wanted to know if I’d packed again, yet; I told him about the pack the two young Wendigo and I are forming. He seemed to go out of his way to tell me that he’s not breeding this year. That’s… reassuring? I guess. Not really. But I believe him.
I asked him why he didn’t kill the Talon-murderer when he had the chance. He told me that he had tried to help Finds Death, and he was the one who told her to leave the sept. When she was dead, he had too many pups to look after, and felt that he was vulnerable to reprisal from the Glass Walkers. I think he looked to me to do it, since I was bigger than him. I told him about the deal me and the Walker worked out, and he seemed surprised she agreed to this willingly.
Eventually, he got so uncomfortable with how defensive I was being, he started to leave; I went after him and apologized, and told him it was just my head being messed up. He thinks having messed up head is normal for women - which could be true. He wanted to know what sorts of magic I’d been working, and after talking about that for a bit, he headed back to go back to his territory.
After a bit more meditation, I went to grab my stuff and head back to the scab. It takes a long time to go back and forth, and I planned on sleeping there over-night so I could go directly to Ila in the morning. I stopped off with the Gnawers to ask Dives-Deep about performing rite of the Totem for my pack. She agreed, which is good. Whispers-in-the-Dark was there too. I… caught myself staring at him; luckily, he left around when Slug showed up.
Apparently they’re planning on going to Seattle, but Slug doesn’t want to go. Huh. He always has been a bit lazy. He also wanted to know why I touched him before - I told him the same thing I did the previous time, but I think he didn’t believe me. He had some weed, and I wasn’t going anywhere that night, so I traded with him to take the edge off. He wondered who taught me about where to find mushrooms and herbs, and I told him about Pup-Carrier, and how I missed her a lot. Somehow this lead to me filling him in on the Furies’ behaviour at the moot.
We both got pretty high, which I think I needed. It helped me relax some, even if I was coughing most of the night. I think we talked about rat people at one point, and how he wanted to know what a rat moot was like. I remember tigers came up. So did Rebecca. I didn’t even want to think about her - she’s still downstairs, I think. I know Ila came up. He tried to talk about Flux, and I didn’t. To be honest, things just got fuzzy from there. As I said, we were... really high. We ended up looking for food and then ‘crashing out’ there.
