Various bad news, and being lectured by a cliath
Thursday, 27 February 2014 23:00I was watching the bison for a bit, thinking about getting together with some of the others and making an attempt on one of the old cows. Lupus isn’t the greatest form for rolling ideas about magic around in your head, but I was taking a break from the puzzles I was working on, and sitting around in ape (Homid - whatever, Fire-Dancer) just gives me time to get my thoughts all tangled up again. Turtle came using some power to turn into a falcon. Is it weird that I can fly, but wish I could experience it as a bird? Turtle is feeling better, and smells better than before. Fox are pretty fragile.
I started talking to him about Raging-Phoenix being stabbed, and Unfinished-Business showed up. Apparently, she knew about Raging-Phoenix all along, and didn’t think I’d be interested. Which, maybe I can understand that, but when she told me, she was a bit of an ass, so I stared her down. Turtle filled me in with more details. Apparently a Glass Walker also had her wolf stolen. The mage that stabbed KL is apparently dead, but the one who stole the Glass Walker’s wolf is probably not. Unfinished-Business then mentioned if it was the mage she killed, she cleaned that up.
I had to ask about that. Apparently she killed a mage for getting too close to bawn - ‘to keep him from finding it’. Like we can keep people from noticing two wolf pack’s worth of forest. The mage wasn’t even anywhere close to any of our places of power. Grandmother save us - was I this stupid when I was first ranked? I told her that when we were guardians, we would use wisdom and cleverness first, to protect the bawn, because dead bodies bring more. I don’t think she got that message at all. I’m not sure how long ago this was, but this is bad news. I’ll have to find out if this is the mage’s friends. We don’t need angry willworkers.
To change the subject from how reckless she’d been, and to let Turtle know how things turned out, I let them know about the cannibal being taken prisoner. They wanted me to guess at the reason why she’d been eating people, and I did. Unfinished Business got pretty upset when I said the Omega tribe would probably kill her, and started berating me for not doing enough, saying we were being wasteful by killing someone for not fitting in.
I snapped on her. Between Turtle, and her, and my sister, I just met my limit of how much crap I could take about this. Unfinished-Business not only didn’t back down, but doubled down, and became bratty. I got in her face until she submitted. I was very close to just beating the crap out of her - the beast, no doubt, but it felt right at the time. Both apologized, but probably more out of fear then actually feeling like they shouldn’t have been lecturing me.
Instead of sticking around, I went to go be angry somewhere with fewer people. I didn't see anyone else in the sept even begin to try and find her until I told them there was a cannibal in the scab. As far as I'm concerned, they forfeit their right to criticize when they did nothing.
