I can’t remember the last time I’ve slept so poorly. Even with the medicine, sleep was troubled. I had nightmare after nightmare, of the slaughter, of Flux, of both, of Earth-Whisperer, of my family disowning me, and more. I stopped sleeping after a while, and took some herbs to help me stay awake instead. I still have the time echoes, so I stayed in, and worked on chores. I spent many good hours working on my parka, but didn’t stop as soon as I should, and began making mistakes that I’ll have to go back and undo.

Eventually, I decided I had to try something to get rid of this new problem with the wyld. I went down to the kass'at house and took out the healing fetish again, not really expecting it to help. It didn’t, as I thought it wouldn’t. I laid around for a long while waiting for it to kick in, in which time the Moose-Calf metis came by. He asked what was wrong. I told him that the wyld was terrible; he took that as my complaining about my… other problem. I showed him the new problem, and he got it. He kept asking about the other problem. Fury, I guess.

He asked if any of his tribemates made trouble with me because of my problems. After what happened at the moot, I wondered if he was trying to make his own fights. He told me about his having struggles with his tribemates. He used lots of words, and made it sound like the others were nipping at his heels constantly. it reinforced what I thought when I talked to Shrouded Arrow: They need a dominance hierarchy. I told that if Untangler gave me problems, I would challenge Untangler. When that didn’t explain things, I told him about his tribemate, Shifting Briar, who said those things to me. I don’t think he learned that either. So little wolf blood in the wolf people here. They prefer to talk at each other rudely, I think.

He came by again later, when I decided the Fetish wasn’t working, with a rabbit. I wonder if they think I’m an invalid that can’t hunt anymore, from lying around so much. Or maybe that I’m like a puppy now, and can’t hunt. It was tasty, though.

I’m exhausted. I’ve taken some herbs for the dreams, and to keep me asleep. I had to dig them out of the snow and sanctify them. I don’t expect to need anything to help me get to sleep, just stay that way. Until then, I can work on spooling more sinew.

When you are suffering, know that I betrayed you. )

In the News:
Usually, a murder in the industrial sector does not make it into the news. A double homicide might be buried in the crime section. But the media has a real buzz when two bodies are discovered in an abandoned warehouse near Jermantown. Two nobodies were found murdered: One was found, shot to death by a rifle, but is of little note. The second, however, was found badly burned, decapitated, and with their face removed, in pile of toxic sludge and gasoline. The skull was never found, even though the face was; sexual fluids were found as well. The police refuse to speculate on the motive, but police internal leaks indicate that papers were found nearby that suggest that this is the work of satanic cultists.

Several priests are interviewed by the media, and make grandiose statements about how this is the logical consequence of allowing marijuana, gay marriage, or any other random recent political event. Others call out the general degeneracy of a society that allows such blasphemous ideas to spread. The police, over the next several days, refuse to confirm or deny the satanic cult story, only fanning the flames.

On Tuesday, news leaks out that one of the deceased is ex-special forces, and the story explodes into a genuine, full-fledged crap-storm, with solemn promises to hunt down the responsible parties from the police. Word leaks out that an FBI anti-cult task-force has taken an interest.
