Some things to do

littlesilvertipTime on all fours, that's what I need. It's getting easier to clear my head out again, and not sit around thinking like an ape when I'm not shaped like an ape. It also gives me oppertunity to scout for territory my pack might be interested in. I've been going to all the usual holy places, and checking to see if others claimed them, and if they still have power. The traveling has given me time to realize some priorities.
Chiminage to the Air Elementals
My packmates haven’t finished their talens yet. I keep edging them on, since this is important to finish. I need to clear out that area already so the Air Elementals accept my mastery over the air, and will come when called, preferably before the moon gets much smaller. This is starting to feel unlikely; I need to start planning for three weeks out…
I have an idea for Rorg’s brood. It’d be dangerous, but so was self-immolation.
Trip to Homeland
I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and started to even begin to put together some things before the taint happened. If nothing else, I need to announce that I’m not dead. While I’m there, I want to check with Singing Mother of the Waters to see if its in her power to make me male. The answer is going to be ‘no.’ But I’m going to ask her anyhow. I also have some information to contribute. If I can, I should do some trading there, like the Tail-Eater went to his kind to do.
Deal with the source.
On the subject of the taint, and homeland… as I wrote before, it is probably too dangerous for me to use the source. There are too few Uktena here, and I can’t rely on one to ensure my safety. If I make another mistake, I could easily end up killing Copperhead to prevent her from cleansing me again. No, the tribe here is too small to use the source. It’s time to give it to the Council in the Homeland. Maybe they’ll let me in the council pueblo this time (or whatever they called it). I’m Athro, now, there’s no way they could deny me, right? I really want to see the inside. I’m not going to just ‘give it away’ if I can; I know what its worth to our people - the secrets I’ve learned from it have always immensely sped my learning of the black matters, and I’m not the most clever of my people - and I deserve fair value for saving it from destruction.
Find new packmate.
Copperhead. What a disgusting monster. What did she do in her past life to get this punishment? I bet she caused the defilement of a caern. But… she is of my tribe. And she did keep me from falling further into taint, when my packmates missed not only all the signs, but also Neryarta’s attempts to tell them. We’ll show her to Sapphire, and see what Sapphire thinks of her. As for others… I wish Humps-Everything wasn’t so… male. I remember his joining the pack, last time. Onyx was impressed by his cleverness. He could also teach Unfinished Business things, if he didn’t… ugh. I don’t want to think about that.

And I know… I know it isn’t that every male is trying to… It’s these damn nightmares. I felt fine for a few days after the dream-thief tampered with my dreams, before things went back to as they’ve been. I felt… better. Safer. There wasn’t dark things behind every tree, and males weren’t out to get me. And now it’s back, with the return of the nightmares. I’m ready to guess there’s a nightmare-bane making its territory in my chimerae. I probably can’t be the one that kills it? That didn’t work last time. I… I think this should be done before all other things.
Hunt down dream-thief.
Maybe the second most important thing I could be doing right now. Someone, out there, saw things in my head that they weren’t supposed to see. Tail-Eater says the guilty party is cleansed. Important, but not the only important thing. The list of those who could and would is very, very short. Two or three people, generously.
Magic experiments.
At some time, it would be good to try out some of the ideas I’ve had from studying the mage things. The next two moons look very busy to me, though. Sigh.
